AP Art & Design is a fast-paced honors level course in which students will produce a minimum of one piece of art per week, along with sketch work and research. AP Art & Design is equivalent to an introductory college art course and students who take this class should complete their assignments with a high level of commitment and rigor. Many hours of outside research and development are required. In addition, students must purchase many of the art tools and materials that will be used throughout the year. Students will produce a physical and digital portfolio to be submitted for evaluation by the College Board, thus possibly earning college credit. Prior to acceptance to this course, students must complete five works of art during the summer. A list of these assignments must be obtained from the AP Art teacher prior to the end of the preceding school year.
